Tuesday's weather looked rainy and not very promising. We headed to breakfast and then decided to rent some bikes and do some sight seeing. I didn't bring anything to wear for riding a bike. After breakfast we made a quick stop at the store for some capris and tennis shoes for me. We then went back to the hotel to get ready for the day. We went over to Biscayne Bay and rented bikes. They had these bike rental's all over the city. They were bike racks with a kiosk, you pay for however long you want your bike and the bike unlocks. You can return your bike to any of the rental spots, it was pretty cool. We decided to ride from the bay out to some keys. It was a really pretty ride over the water and along side the beaches. The first bridge was long and a big hill, it was a good workout and felt good to be active!
We rode out to Virginia Key. There were lots of public beach area's along side there.
Here is a good view of the big bridge we crossed to get over to the keys. It was a lot of fun to do and we are glad we decided to do it. We rode for a little under 2 hours and went 9 miles. By the end we were all sweaty! It was humid down there!
We stopped to get some quick lunch on our way back to the hotel. When we got back to the hotel it was raining again, we took our lunch out on the patio to eat. It let up to a little drizzle so we headed out to the beach. Even if the weather wasn't perfect beach weather we still wanted to relax out there. You can't go to the beach and never go to the beach. I brought a book to read and it was nice to relax and listen to the waves.
JJ kept trying to get me to come swim in the water. I am not a huge swimming person, I will get in but I never really get under. Especially when its not that hot outside. He loved running and jumping in the waves. He wished he had some goggles so he could see under the water. He would come and sit by me on the sand for a while and one time he dug a big hole. He was so funny and said he dug the hole for me. We laughed about it and I jokingly went and stood in it. This is why the kids like him more then me, he is way more fun. I don't run and jump in the water or dig big holes in the sand.
We decided to relax and stay in that evening. We stopped at Walgreens for some Aloe, JJ got sunburned on our bike ride. Yes, its true--you can still get sunburned when the sun isn't out. We then walked down to a pizza shop and got a pizza to take back to the hotel. We enjoyed relaxing and watching a movie off TV while eating our pizza. It was perfect!
In a way it was kind of nice to not have perfect weather. We were able to get out and see the city more then we probably would have if it were sunny. We would have just sat on the beach all day, which is also nice. It was fun to get out and do things together. It reminded me of when we were dating and before we had kids. So fun to just spend the whole day together, uninterrupted by kids. It is good to know we still have so much fun together. We had fun talking, laughing and joking with each other.
