Zoo Field Trip

Yesterday we were able to go with Lucy's preschool class on their field trip to the Zoo. We enjoyed walking around and seeing the animals together and with friends. We packed a lunch and ate that while watching the sea lion show. The Zoo was packed full of so many schools there on field trips. It was hard to get up close and see the animals. We left after the sea lion show and decided to say hi to JJ at school. We ended up going in and eating lunch with him and then having some ice cream. The school happened to be having an ice cream social at lunch and we enjoyed a little treat. It was a beautiful day to get out and walk around the Zoo. I am glad we were able to go!

Rain

This week has been pretty low key for us because we have had SO much rain down here. We have just been pounded storm after storm. Not just rain either these storms usually have come with a tornado warning with the sirens going off. Luckily now the sun is out trying its best to soak up all the rain water. All this rain has caused us to be inside a little more. We were able to get a break in the weather just in time for park day on Tuesday and we have been on a couple of nice walks in the neighborhood to get rid of some energy. We learned that recently Garrett has been getting scared of the thunder and lightening. Tuesday night when it was raining so bad with all the lightening and sirens going off he wouldn't settle down until he ended up sleeping in bed with us. He is such a sweet boy and loves to cuddle, but sleeping with him in bed with us is something I am so glad is not a regular occurrence (in fact I can probably count the number of times it has happened on 1 hand). We have had great weather yesterday and today and the weekend looks like is should be nice too--we are glad to have a break from the rain.

Happy Easter!

We had a really nice Easter Sunday. Lucy woke up extra early to make sure the Easter Bunny came to fill up her basket. The kids got some fun things in their baskets. They got some bubbles, candy and some little games. JJ got an egg from the Easter bunny that sent him on a little hunt for 20 other eggs letting him know reasons why the bunny loves him.

Since we were up so early I told JJ there was no reason why we shouldn't be nice and early for church. We snapped a few pictures before heading out the door.

JJ sure wished he had his suit to match Garrett. JJ left all his suits in St. Louis when he took them up at Christmas time to have them all dry cleaned for the wedding. He has missed them and is looking forward to getting them all back in a couple of weeks. Garrett sure looked handsome in his suit and Lucy looked really pretty in her dress.

After church we had lunch and then colored our Easter eggs. It was fun, Garrett was loving the whole putting the egg in and taking it out business. He made a pretty good mess, but that's okay.

Lucy really enjoyed it as well and was excited to color the eggs. She did a really good job making some pretty eggs.

That afternoon we all relaxed and Garrett took a nap. JJ's parents sent an Easter package that had the new movie "Tangled" in it and so we watched that with Lucy. She is so excited to have the movie! After dinner we had a little egg hunt in the backyard for the kids. They thought it was fun and were excited to hunt for the eggs.

Garrett discovered pretty quickly that there was candy inside the eggs and he didn't waste any time putting some in his mouth! So that is why has a mouth full.

That evening we had a couple families over to share our Easter bunny cake that we make each year. We made this every year growing up and it was so fun to hear that all my sister each made one this year. We are all carrying on the tradition of making the Bunny cake. It is fun to see the pictures of each family with their bunny cakes. Lucy had fun helping me decorate the bunny with the jelly beans. We had a nice evening with our friends eating treats, we hung out outside and even lite out tiki-torches. We also enjoyed talking with our families and just relaxing together. It was a great Easter!

Egg Hunt at Snowden Grove

Saturday morning we took the kids over to Snowden Grove for their little spring festival and Easter egg hunt. They had all sorts of free things for the kids to do. The lines of course were pretty long so we just walked around for a little while looking at the things and then stopped to look at the little petting zoo they had there. They gave each kid a little hand full of food to feed to the animals. Garrett loved it and then continued to pick the grass and feed it to any animal that would try to eat it.

We then headed over to the field where they were going to have the race. We meet up with a few friends that had also come.

As soon as it was time to get hunting the kids just took off. They knew just what to do! Lucy took off and just ran and got the eggs as fast as she could.

After the hunt with their basket's full of eggs.

Garrett was in heaven, once he found out there was candy inside that was all he could do. He ate all the candy out of every egg by time we got home. All his eggs were wet and sticky! After the hunt people started to clear out so we decided to go back and ride the little train they had. The line's weren't as bad. Lucy really wanted to have a pony ride but that line was really long. We will have to take her to ride a pony someday.

Mothers Group Field Day

Friday we had a field day activity with our mothers group. Ashley and I planned it together and thought of a couple games for all the kids to play. They all had a really fun time! The game that was the biggest hit was this one, you got an egg out of the water in a bucket with the spoon and carried it across and dumped it into the the bucket of water on the other side. All the kids could do it and had a really fun time . I think we are going to have to continue to play this in our backyard!

We also played red light, green light but you had to walk across like different animals. Who ever was holding the red light or green light got to decide what you walked like.

We also had fun doing a couple other games and feeding the ducks. Everyone packed a sack lunch so when the games were over we sat and enjoyed lunch and a few treats. It was fun to do and all the kids enjoyed it.
