SuperBowl

The Smiths had people over to watch the superbowl.  It was fun to hang out together and watch the game.  We snacked on yummy food, the kids ran around and played and the Kansas City Cheifs won in overtime.  It was a great finish!

Garrett thought about doing wrestling this year but then decided not to.  He had a busy football season and was looking forward to coming home after school and relaxing.  As the season went on and the other boys at church all did wrestling I think he wished he would have done it too.  He went to one of their wrestling matches to support and cheer them on.  He had fun and they all won their matches, one of the parents said Garrett was goodluck.
Garrett has been spending to much time on the xbox.  We took it away for a little while and the break was hard for him.  He has a hard time understanding our rules with the xbox.  He wishes he could put it in his room and play as long as he wants.  That isn't how it works are our house.  The xbox is downstairs and the boys have a time limit.  Untill Garrett could agree and respect our rules we took the xbox away.  After several weeks without it he finally agreed it was better to abide by our rules and get it back then to be without it.
We had a rainly cloudy week and went several days without seeing the sun.  It was so hard and made us all sleepy and unmotivated.  The sun finally came out and it was so nice.  I went looking for Jack after my workout one morning and found him stretched out enjoying the morning sun on Nolans bed.
I went to Ft. Zumwalt East to cheer on Lucy and Becca joined me.  We had fun watching and cheering on Lucy.  I asked Lucy if she could hear us cheering for her and she said yes, you were loud today. She had a great game and made several three pointers.  I always try to let her know how well she is doing and point out things she does well.  I know her coaches will always remind her what to do better but I try to remind her she is doing a lot of realy great things too.

Lucy felt like making some sugar cookies one Sunday.  She made them all on her own and then we went to deliver some to the Munsons.

Garrett loves to show us his muscles.  I just had to snap a picture to remember him at this age being so proud of his muscles.
Becca and Valerie came to Lucy's game in Washington to cheer her on.  I was able to pick JJ up and head out with him and Nolan to watch the game.  It was nice that her game was later in the evening so we could make it.  They won which is so awesome.  Washington is usually a team we loose to but we beat them twice this season which is awesome.
Lucy let me do her hair fun for church.  We did a heart since it was Valentines week.  She said she got lots of compliments on it.

JJ has been doing another conference for OEP.  He was busy all weekend with that but I still wanted to get out and do something.  There was an ice festival on St. Charles main street that I thought would be fun to go to with the boys.  Lucy was busy working so we missed spending time with her too.  We have been to the ice carnival in the loop but never down to main street.  It was a rainy day but it wasn't to bad.  That might have helped with the crowds.  We started at Grandmas cookies where the boys each picked out a few cookies to enjoy while we walked around the festival.  There were several ice scuptures being worked on that we enjoyed watching.  Nolan thought it was so facinating to watch.  Earlier in the day they had the competition for the larger ice scuptures.  I enjoyed seeing the finished ones that were done in the morning.  We walked around for a little bit and then inside a few stores and then headed home.  I thanked the boys for going with me and spending time with me.  Nolan told me he enjoyed going and he said it would have been boring for me to go by myslef.  He said who would you have taken pictures with if you were by yourself.  When JJ is working it is lonely and I was glad we didn't sit at home wasting the day.

I was glad I was able to go to dinner with some girlfriends to celebrate Amy's birthday.  Being sick the whole week before I was so excited to be with friends and socialize.  I am thankful for such wonderful friends.  I love being with them and come home from nights out with them filled with happiness and love for them.  I am a happier and more fulfilled when I am able to have great conversations with friends.  I had that while at dinner, I was glad I was able to be with them.  I rode with my friend Becca, and she shared with me that her Lupus has returned.  After being in remission for 15 years it is back.  She wanted to drive together so she could share this news with me in person.  I was so sad for her and have complete empathy for her as she starts medication for this.  I am glad that she told me so I can be there for her in any way possible to make this trial easier for her.  I know it is a scary and hard thing ahead of her.

Our January started off slow and kind of rough.  Nolan began struggling with constipation again and I took him to the pediatrician for a note so he could use the restroom in the nurse's office.  He missed some school because of a stomachache from not going to the bathroom.  I was glad that he would now be able to use the restroom at school better.  We both got sick a few days after being at the pediatrician's office.  That is the only place that just the two of us went together.  We were supposed to spend Monday, Martin Luther King Day, with my dad.  Monday was the day both Nolan and I started feeling sick.  We decided to stay home and not spread our germs.  I am glad we did because Tuesday morning I felt even worse and decided to do a covid test.  It was positive immediately.  After dodging covid for almost four years I finally had it.  Thankfully Tuesday was a snow day from school, so we didn't miss school or work.  Nolan and I felt so crummy all week.  It was awful, we had no energy and mostly laid around or slept all day.  Everyone else was so busy with their lives and not really home.  I felt that it was up so us to just survive and try to rest and get better.  It was probably for the best, so we didn't spread our germs.  I had no energy to make us proper food so we just ate what we could and went back to bed.  I stayed in bed for days.  Jack was my buddy.  We would snuggle and lay with me in bed all day.  I would just watch TV and sleep.  I felt bad one afternoon Garrett had asked if I could pick him up.  I told him I would but then fell asleep and totally missed getting him.  He texted me about 45 minutes after I was supposed to pick him up and the text woke me up.  Poor Garrett!  It was too cold for him to walk home, and I felt so bad he waited so long for me.  Thursday I finally felt well enough to drive myself to Wendys for some chili so I could have a decent lunch.  Friday we both turned a corner and started to feel a little better.  Friday was another snow day.  We were grateful for another day not missed with work and school.  We were both still exhausted and needed to still rest.  I would feel like I needed to do something, and I would start and then run out of energy.  There were so many things to do around the house after they were neglected all week.  It was overwhelming but I didn't have the energy to complete them all.  I was glad we were able to go to Lucy's basketball game Friday afternoon as a family.  Nolan and I felt up to it and we put a mask on.  Christy and Joe came to watch Lucy play.  I texted them and told them we were getting over covid.  They sat away from us but came to say hi at the end of the game.  I wanted to give them the choice and be respectful to not spread our germs.  It was such an awful week I didn't want to bring this upon anyone else.
