JJ has been wanting to open his own practice for a while and we are finally making some big steps to make it happen this year. He wants to open a vision therapy practice but still needs to do some training. When he graduated he was awarded a week at a vision therapy conference in Michigan. He loved it and came home so excited about what he learned. He registered and attended the next part of that conference last weekend. He was excited to see SCO was hosting it and one of the professors he knew was conducting it. He left early Thursday morning and got to Memphis just in time for the conference to start at 9 AM. He was in classes Thursday-Monday and learned a lot. He now has a good idea of the equipment he wants and how to move forward. He is excited to register for the next part this summer. He said it was fun to be in Memphis and back at SCO. He was able to visit some friends as well as the office of one of his internships. He had a nice trip and was thankful he was able to go.
I tried my best to hold down the fort while JJ was gone. We had some long nights and days but we survived. Nolan is really attached to JJ and that was the hardest thing. He didn't understand where JJ was and why he wasn't coming home from work. Friday he was a trooper while we did all our grocery shopping. He did so good going to three different grocery stores I decided to stop and get him a cheeseburger for lunch. He was so happy!
Friday night we had a movie night. Nolan and I got "Storks" from Redbox and picked up some movie candy to enjoy. We enjoyed cuddling up together watching the movie and eating our treat. After a busy day it was nice to sit down and relax together.
Saturday I took the kids to Ikea for dinner and a little shopping. We haven't been down to Ikea yet and the kids were excited to go walk around. They loved getting dinner there and thought it was like a big cafeteria. They liked exploring all the different rooms they had set up as we walked around. I was surprised how much they liked it. We picked out a few little things but we all thought it would be fun to come back again with JJ. After checking out we enjoyed a ice cream cone and cinnamon rolls. It was nice to get out of the house and do something with the kids.
JJ returned home Monday evening after dinner, we were all so happy to see him and have him home again. Were thankful for his hard work.
