Casey Jones

Yesterday we had great weather in the 70's and JJ took the day off from studying to spend some time with the family. We planned a little day trip to Jackson, TN, it is about 1/2 way from us and Nashville. We packed up a lunch and ate in the lawn. It was beautiful and relaxing to sit and eat together outside. They have a train museum there as a tribute to Casey Jones. So you don't know who he is? Neither did we, but we learned that he is a hero in the train business. He saved several lives in a train accident a long time ago. We watched a little movie about him, his life and the accident that he is famous for.

We then looked around, or more like it ran around the museum looking at a few things about him and in his life.
We toured his house, it was a boarding home that he stayed in and meet his wife at.
And the best part of the whole thing was looking at the train replica they had of the train he was driving when the accident happened.
The kids really enjoyed ringing the bell and making sure they knew what every gadget in the train does and how it moves.

They had a really fun time playing with all the trains in the train shop. We let them ride one of those little rides you see outside of the grocery stores. The train went back and forth and they thought it was awesome. They loved the train tables and when it was time to go Garrett grabbed as many train pieces he could hold and was ready to take them with us.
We planned on eating at the country store there but when we finished the museum we had lots of time to kill before dinner time came around. We asked the guy at the museum what else there was to do in Jackson and he said not to sound like we are it, but we are kind of it. So we went to try to find a park and we couldn't find it so we decided to just head back. We decided to go eat at Gus's Fried Chicken, it is world famous and it was delicious. It is a hole in the wall and you eat on paper plates with plastic utensils but man that is some good fried Chicken! We had a great day together as a family and it was nice to get a little ways away from home. Jackson seems like a little town with not a whole lot to do but the kids had a great time at the museum. We are glad we made the trip!

Fun day! I am glad you found a good place to eat! We did eat there and the food was okay but not great! We really liked the museum though!
