Bike-A-Thon

Friday evening the kids participated in a bike-a-thon at the school.  It was in partnership with the "Pedal the Cause Foundation".  They were excited to go and participate.  We explained to them that it wasn't a race, just to have fun riding their bikes.  Garrett can get pretty competitive even when we go on our family bike rides.  He likes to be in first place.  They did laps around the school for 30 minutes and had two different groups.

Garrett rode fast the entire 30 minutes!  He was all business every time he rode past us.
Lucy was leisurely riding and looked like she was really enjoying herself.  She would always wave and try to get Nolan to see her when she passed.  She was cute and changed her shirt into one of her active tee's before going.

Nolan thought it was fun to sit and watch all the bikes go by.  We tried to point out Lucy and Garrett when they would pass by.  He mostly enjoyed being outside and eating snacks as he sat in his stroller.

They had food trucks there and we decided to get a shaved ice when the kids were done riding.  Just as they were finishing up we walked over and go in line.  The kids saw us and stopped to talk with us.  The announced over the microphone what it was the final lap.  Garrett decided to go do the final lap and Lucy said she was done.  We stood in line to get our shaved ice and just as we finished paying they came over the microphone looking for Garrett's parents.  As he went around the front of the building he crashed pretty hard and the principle helped him over.  JJ helped him over, he hurt his arm pretty bad.  He was crying and his shirt was filthy, you could tell he had a bad crash.  We gave him his shaved ice and he wouldn't even eat it.  I was really worried he broke him arm or something.  He wasn't even using it and kept crying that it hurt really bad.  He could move everything and the bones all felt fine.  We decided to head home and get him some ice and a spoon to eat his shaved ice.  As the evening went on his arm started to feel better and we were relieved.  We felt bad he crashed but are glad he didn't get hurt to bad.  It was a fun activity and we are glad the kids were able to go participate.  It is fun to go to things like that together as a family.
