Memphis Ballet

Saturday night I went to the Ballet with some friends and saw the Wizard of Oz. It was alot of fun to spend some time with the girls.
Here are a couple blurry pictures I took during the ballet. You couldn't use your flash so it was hard to get a good one.
This is the whole cast, they all did a great job and it was very fun to watch. The dances were all so good and their facial expressions were so fun.
I had never been to the Orpheum and it was so pretty in there. I can't wait to go back again and see something else!
I didn't even notice the girl in the background of this picture until Cara pointed it out on her blog. I think that is so funny, who knows what she is doing?
Thanks for a fun time girls!

A Family Walk

Yesterday we went on a nice little walk as a family. We have been wanting to go for a while but is has rained so much we thought we should give the ground some time to dry up. We went down by Lake Arkabutla and did a 2 mile loop.
Garrett loved riding in the backpack
Lucy was such a good hiker, she walked about 90%, Pretty good for being 3
Our walk was so pretty, I think we missed the peak by a week but it was still pretty

Taking a break

It was fun to get out and enjoy the outdoors and spend some time as a family. I loved enjoying the fall and all the pretty leaves.

Trip to the Zoo

The weather this week has been just beautiful!! I decided to take the kids to the Zoo. We haven't been in a while and it was great. It was the perfect day to go, I actually got a little warm while we were there. The leaves were so pretty and when the wind blew some would fall around us. It is fall in full bloom.

The Gorilla

Elephant

Watching the sea lion show

The bears were swimming in the water at the new exhibit and it was really fun to see. They were so cute and active. Lucy enjoyed being able to see them up close.

I just thought this picture was funny because Garrett constantly tried to grab Lucy braid while riding in the stroller. I can only imagine it will get worse

In front of the Elk

When the exhibit first opened they didn't have the elk yet, they were there to day and they were running around

It was fun to get out and enjoy the day. After we were done we had lunch with JJ at school since the Zoo is so close to the school. It was fun to see him in the middle of the day.

Random

I thought Lucy looked cute yesterday for preschool. We are sad next week is the last week until the spring. We will have to keep learning letters and doing her little work books at home together. She is sad to leave her class mates and her teachers. She has really enjoyed the time she has had there.

Talking to each other
Garrett was giving JJ a big hug and a kiss before bed
Eating his bear. He LOVES his little blue bear and loves to suck on his ears!

Well we (mostly I) finished the table project! JJ and I started working on refinishing our kitchen table about a month ago and we are finally finished. The chairs were unfinished so it was easy to match them to our hutch. The table needed to be refinished so we had to sand it down. JJ worked very hard on that part. We were thinking we might be able to sand it down enough to maybe match everything else but as we got working on it we realized it was going to take a long time so we decided to just do the table black. I am very happy with it.

Here are a couple pictured during all the work.

The chairs have taken me forever! They take 3 coats of stain and they are just tedious. I still have 2 more chairs to do but I am taking a break. But if you know me I can't stand to have things un-done so I will most likely get back to work on them soon. I will also go back and do some touch ups on the chairs and do a clear finishing coat down the road too.

We finally were able to bring the table back inside last night. I got so use to eating on our small patio table that I think our table is huge! I love it and I think it is nice and warm. It looks really good and I am really pleased with how it turned out.
I am glad to have this mostly done, other then a few finishing things. I can now have my Saturdays, Nap time, Thursday school hours and evenings back. I feel like when we have a big project it really takes all our time. If I am not working on it I feel guilty--so it is done! Done for now.

Baby Food

I have been making baby food for Garrett. I started Lucy on the store bought stuff and then tried to make her some when she was a little older. By then she didn't like the home made stuff because the consistency wasn't the same. So we are starting Garrett on the home made stuff. It is kinda fun and really doesn't take that much time. So far I have done sweet potatoes and butternut squash. He is still just starting the yellow vegetables so I am just kinda making a new one each week as he tries it. I have Carrots and yellow squash in the fridge to make this week.
Who wouldn't want to make yummy food for this sweet face?

We got his high chair out this week and he loves to sit in it and play with this toy. I think he also likes to be at the table with us.

Halloween

We had a fun Halloween this year as a family. Here are a couple cute pictures of Lucy and Garrett dressed up.

I thought Garrett's face was cute in this one, it is much harder to get a good picture of 2 kids.
Here is our family , Lucy was Elmo, Garrett is a pumpkin, JJ is a pig with the swine flu and I am a nurse giving him the swine flu shot. (we took the idea from our friends, thanks Shumways )

We went over to our church for a Chili dinner and some trunk or treat. It was alot of fun and the weather was great.

We also went on a hayride around a pretty lake. The leaves are so pretty down here right now.
Here is Lucy trunk or treating

Our old neighbors Michelle and Kennedy came, it was fun to see them. We sure miss living next to some great neighbors.
Here is Lucy with some of her friends, Louisa, Mary, Lucy and Rhylan
When we got home we went trick or treating to just a couple of our neighbors, mostly just for the trick or treating experience of going door to door.
Here is Garrett, I thought he made a cute pumpkin and I am glad we were able to squeeze his long legs into his costume.
At the end of the night with all the candy, we have been reading alot of Halloween books these past weeks and one is the little critters book and in the end he says he will save his candy all the way until next year. Lucy told us that last night. I doubt it will last that long.
